Grand Prize 2022

The Grand Prize this year is  a Romantic Guitar made in the Panormo style.

Designed under the supervision of Fernando Sor in London during the Regency Era, it became the most demanded romantic guitar in England. Sor’s involvement with the Panomo family of luthiers is documented in Sor’s 1830 “Methode.” Videos by SGFC winners Jesus Serrano and Dragos Ilie are on YouTube. Also on YouTube is Thomas Viloteau playing the Grande Serenade by Napoleon Coste, a student of Sor. His Panormo is strung with gut strings that were used on Panormo guitars when they were first made.
