Ulyana Machneva, Ukraine-born started playing classical guitar at the age of six. Ulyana graduated from Kharkov State University of Arts as a classical guitar performer, teacher, and composer (theory of music). Her minor was in piano and academic vocal. After graduation, Ulyana worked as an assistant professor at Kharkov State Academy of Arts, gaining great experience working with youth. Her students successfully graduated from classical guitar courses as performers.
As a classical guitar virtuoso, Ulyana has won high honors in many international performance and composition competitions. Her melodious musical renditions have resounded in concert halls throughout Russia, Belgium, Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, USA and Canada. In 2008, she became a winner of “The 10th Annual Columbus State University Guitar Competition and Symposium” and the “Rosario Guitar Festival and Competition” in Columbia, SC.
Her original musical compositions have been published in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, and the USA. Many of her works have become performer’s choice at international guitar competitions.
Ulyana continues her musical career playing solo recitals and teaching students classical, romantic and popular guitar, as well as composition/improvisation, and academic vocal. She currently teaches classical guitar, theory of music and guitar ensemble at the Charleston Academy of Music.
