Southern Guitar Festival & Competition

Kenney

By Southern Guitar Festival and Competition on June 11, 2020

At the age of 26, during my tenure as a public transportation lobbyist in Washington, DC, I had a chance encounter with the classical guitar that would change my life forever. I had never seriously played another instrument before, and after on-again, off-again private lessons in my late 20s, by age 30 I had fully committed to a life as a performer and arts administrator.

I have since attended the University of North Texas College of Music, held a position as the Patron Development Manager for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and most recently was on US/Canada tour (Baby Bach Tour) to bring classical guitar music directly to kids, parents, and expectant mothers. Currently, I’m engaging with the Arts Administrators of Color Network, with the goal of amplifying BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) voices in the performing arts.
