Division I (College/Pro)

ATTENTION: This division will compete IN PERSON this year. Competitions will take on September 30-October 1st, 2023 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA.

Division I (College/professional)- This category has no age limit. All performance selections must be memorized and performed on a classical guitar. Each competitor in Division I is expected to perform up to 10 minutes of music for the 1st round.
Nine competitors will be chosen to compete in the final round. Finalists will be asked to perform up to 15 minutes of music.

Three prize winners for Division I will be announced at the award ceremony on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. (including via Facebook and website)

A special prize! A Panormo style handmade guitar will be awarded for the best interpretation of a romantic period guitar work. For the purpose of this competition, “Romantic Guitar Work” is defined as: a work written for pre-Torres instruments that precedes the Spanish nationalist style during the 1800’s. Composers may include, but are not limited to Giuliani, Sor, Regondi, Coste, Carulli, Aguado, Legnani, Carcassi, Paganini, Lhoyer, etc.
